Autumn update from the garden

Now that autumn is on its way, our team of volunteers at Lam Rim are preparing for the change of season. Whilst we’re still enjoying the lavender and the dianthus, the crackling newly dried leaves are beginning to settle on our paths.

With an abundance of apples and pears in our orchards and a kitchen full of sweet flavours, our stomachs are full and our hearts are ready to cook.

But what with the garden?

Not only are we busy storing the new supplies of food and preparing compost with the dried leaves, but we’re also busy growing new vegetables. With parsnips and sprouts to come, our Centre is living and our guests are enjoying it.

Then what with the rest of the land?

Well, our prayer path is always around us, with its brambles and Buddhas, encircling the earth and the sky. And the willow trees and benches are forever inviting us to reflect on the day passed by. It is of course with gratitude that our garden is scythed and the grass can hold us in that moment with tender care.

As our reflections reach the sunset, the back terrace and strong team helps us to say thank you and let go.

With all that, we hope you that you too can share autumn with us one day at Lam Rim.

With warmest of wishes

Anneka
