Since 1978, we have provided a place of authentic Buddhist teachings.

Lam Rim Buddhist Centre is a Charitable Trust founded in 1978. For over 40 years it has been providing authentic Buddhist teachings and helping people find a fresh perspective on everyday life.

We are located deep in the beautiful Monmouthshire countryside. Situated near Abergavenny, in the village of Penrhos, the Centre is easily accessed from nearby Bristol and is close to the border of England and Wales. The Centre is overlooked by the Black Mountains, with the beautiful Brecon Beacons being within easy reach, and likewise the popular Wye Valley and Vale of Usk.

The Centre was founded by the late Spiritual Director, Venerable Geshe Damcho Yonten, who lived onsite for many years offering teachings from the Nalanda University Tradition in Buddhism and meditation. The Centre has hosted visits from renowned Buddhist Masters, including His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama.

The Lam Rim Buddhist Centre represents Buddhism of the Great Vehicle (Mahayana), the form of Buddhism which was prevalent in Tibet, China and Japan. The concern of Mahayana Buddhism is with altruistically developing the path to full Buddhahood, absolute perfection of wisdom and compassion, for the benefit of all sentient beings. Lam Rim Buddhist Centre offers a range of residential retreats and courses in Buddhism, as well as secular education, wellbeing workshops and facilities that can be booked for those looking to run their own events.

There are numerous walks and excursions from the property including several nearby castles (White castle, Raglan castle and Skenfrith castle). Also, within easy reach, are many other spiritual and historic places of interest, including the Virtuous Well at the historical village of Trellech, and the Cistercian abbey of Tintern which is one of the greatest monastic ruins in Wales.
