Happy 1st Birthday to the Cats of Lam Rim Wales

It was one year ago that the residents of Lam Rim Wales found four new kittens at their door. Now that their first year has passed, we give honour to their friendship and kinship and hold them deeply in our hearts.

Sid, who is funny, mischievous and curious has a special affinity to enjoying one’s company and lounging just where your feet are.

Ginger, who is fierce, strong and courageous has a gift of protection and will never see the residents walking alone at night without his guardianship.

Minzo, who is elegant and friendly, is always the one to pose, take a hug or make you laugh.

Then Angel, the only female, is as sweet as a flower and helps everyone relax when they need a rest.

What is most remarkable about the cats is their togetherness, both with the community of Lam Rim Wales and each other. A day never passes where they forget to walk the prayer path together with John, take rest together or play and eat together.

Each day with them has been a joy and we are always indebted to their friendship, love and care for us.

Perhaps it is the spirit life of Lam Rim Wales that needs the cats. It is true that there have always been a history of cats living at the Centre and we are always reminded of their sweet stories. John’s favourite story is the one of our late Geshe Damcho who would play football with his cat in the corridor.

With all of that, we wish the cats a happy birthday and hope that they will remain with us at Lam Rim Wales to keep our spirits high and our minds clean and clear.
